Jennifer Nelson-Lastra has officially filed to run for the seat she now holds on the Cape Coral City Council (district 4). As of today Nelson is running unopposed. Nelson was first elected in 2017 and served until 2022. She ran for the seat in 2021 but was narrowly defeated by Patty Cummings. Cummings was eventually removed from the seat after it was discovered she did not live in the district she was elected to represent. The Council then appointed Richard Carr. Nelson-Lastra then defeated Carr in a special 2024 election to fill out the 4-year term which is up again next year.

Nelson-Lastra is hosting a Town Hall Saturday, October 18th from 10 a.m. to noon at the Cape Coral – Lee County Library, 921 SW 39th Terr., Meeting Room CC.

This event allows neighbors to connect and engage directly with Nelson-Lastra. Residents are encouraged to share their concerns, ask questions, and discuss ideas for the future of District 4 and the City of Cape Coral.
