The room wasn’t big enough to hold all the supporters of the Cape Coral Youth Council last night at Nice Guys Pizza. The group of junior and senior high schoolers are on a mission to raise enough money for 17 of them to go to Washington, DC.
Throughout the year the young leaders organize events throughout the community and later this year they’ll be heading to Washington DC to attend a leadership conference. The Cape Coral City Council plays a big role in helping the Youth Council including allowing them to hold meetings in City Council Chambers. Council member Jennifer Nelson-Lastra is the liaison for the Council.
In addition to the community fundraisers to help pay for their trip to DC ($17,000) the Youth Council has a GoFundMe set up if you’d like to donate. Follow the Youth Council on Facebook HERE.
Also, tonight at our show at Hooked Island Grill we’ll be selling $20 raffle tickets for a weekend stay at the beautiful Pink Shell Beach Resort on Fort Myers Beach. 100% of the raffle money will be turned over to the Cape Coral Youth Council for their fundraising effort to go to Washington DC. If you cannot make the show you can enter the drawing by donating $20.00 by Venmo to Edward-Ryan-14. Make sure you put Youth Council in the subject line and we will send you a confirmation that you are entered in your Venmo comments.
The winner will be drawn by Cape Coral City Council member Jennifer Nelson Lastra when she’s our guest on the show September 26th.
