An anonymous donor has agreed to cover the balance of the funds needed to install the 250-foot flag at Bernice Braden Park. The bid to install the flag came in at $420,000. As of Wednesday night, $270,000 has been raised.
The fundraising will continue with the donor covering the balance, whatever that is.
The City Attorney will take the next several weeks to hammer out a legal framwork with the donor to assure the council taxpayers will not put any money toward the project.
The hope is to have the flag up and flapping in the wond by the 4th of July.
